IT Legends – Tech in Connecticut

Has anyone ever actually the “OS Install Mode” in their BIOS?  I decided to enable this as I’m switching the operating system from my old hardware that used to run the server for Nutmeg Consulting from Windows Server 2003 to CentOS 5.2 to give Zimbra a whirl.  Well, the only thing I can tell that this mode does is limit the amount of system memory to 256 MB.  Hopefully someone out there can tell me how this is useful.  Is it for some legacy operating system?  Maybe RTOS?  What?
